Lots of New Arrivals and Last Few Days of Sale

We have so many lovely new arrivals to report that I'm going to let the photographs do most of the talking in this blog.  However, it's all about colour and texture this summer, so do call in and check out these beautiful handmade items for yourself..

Please Note - We've been having a sale for the last few weeks to make way for the new arrivals, with up to 50% off many items, but the sale must end this weekend. Call in this weekend and mention this blog for extra discount before the sale ends..

The first of four new ceramic artists is Sonje Hibbert whose fabulous "Denim" and "Delph" jugs are going straight into our front window today.

From Jeweller Karin Sheldon we have her 24ct gold and silver Twilight and Daylight ranges with Butterflies or Dragonflies..

Karin uses an ancient and highly skilled technique called "Keum- Bo" in which heat and pressure are used to combine 24ct gold and sterling silver.  The technique originated in Korea where it was developed for making samurai swords.

Next, just for fun - hand made spatulas by Tim Foxall..

Perfect Presents in Porcelain, from Louise Hall,  vessels in gorgeous mix and match colours..

I've been using one of Lindsey Tyson's lovely felt pebble pin cushions for a while at home, now I'm very pleased to able to offer them, along with her keyrings and brooches, here at ArtParade.

Topical Tour de France Belles from Ann Davies sporting winning jersey colours, a lovely souvenir, I'm tempted to take the set home!

I'm very please to report the return of an old favourite here at ArtParade, Sue Candy was one our earliest ceramic artists, and returns with a lovely collection for the summer.  Her white porcelain pots come with black slate lids, in Sandpiper and Beach Hut designs and spoon included.

Louise Walker is now showing her Contour range in which she combines and contrasts geometrically shaped silver with perfect natural pearls in white or silver grey. This range really does need to be seen to be fully appreciated.

A lovely new collection of items for unique gifts come from David Meredith designer and maker of these miniature bronze statues featuring animals and birds.  Perfect at around £12.95 each for the collector of bronze or of many different animals.

Our final ceramicist is Mary Howard George, whose t-lights and jugs have been an immediate hit with customers - it's a good job I got some photos before they started flying off the shelves..

Finally, a great little gift idea from illustrator Babs Pease, these are matching greetings cards and handbag mirrors (which come gift wrapped and with a protective sleeve). We have six designs in stock, the cards are £1.95 and the mirrors are £4, a perfect package.

 More new arrivals next week.
Hope to see you at ArtParade soon.  Beverley

Mother's Day Window, Our First Guest Dresser..

This week our new Mother's Day window display has been designed by our first ever guest window dresser, designer/maker Karen Belarouci .  And the result is really lovely, well worth popping along for a look.  Karen has been showing her jewellery and cards here almost since we first opened, and last year when Jessica wrote a blog she selected Karen as one of her favourite makers here at ArtParade.  See that blog here .

Many of the pieces Karen has selected for the window are from a new maker to us, Catherine Toolan.

Catherine uses vintage treasures and rediscovered, often luxury and
designer, materials lovingly reworked into creative and individual designs.

Repurposed & alternative clothing, accessories, jewellery, gifts, a little story woven into every one.
Catherine writes "From a Mill town in the beautiful Calder valley - home of textiles - I continue the textile tradition with creative designs and couture that is far from run-of-the-mill. Inspired by fragments that others discard, and by locally & ethically sourced materials, each design is individually created and hand finished"
Scarves, bags, cuffs and brooches from the collection.
We have a wonderful selection of handmade Mother's Day cards and gift ideas in stock at the moment, we also have cards for children to buy at £1 each, so do pop in and make your selection before Sunday the 30th.

New Arrivals and Winter Opening Hours

Some lovely new designs from a jeweller who is always very popular with our customers.  Star Inbar brings us the Danon range.  This week's new designs include dragonflies, angel wings and swallows...

We've had dragonfly bangles and earrings for a while, and I'm pleased to say we now also have two necklace options, with a perfectly sized larger dragonfly.  We also have a full set of pieces with a 3 crystal bejewelled heart, which is based on our most popular pointed heart from the current range.

These are my photographs and I'm afraid this one is not good enough to do these items justice.  The plump hearts have a hammered finish and are in silver and gold.  I can only suggest you pop in to see how lovely the swallows are, they have a single tiny crystal, completely lost in the photo.. memo to self, invest in some proper lighting!
Angel Wings, also available in silver and gold, or a combination.

No, I'm afraid flash doesn't help, but at least this gives some size comparisons.
Finally, since returning after New Year our winter opening hours apply, we have a short day on Sunday, and we close half an hour early every other day, until the end of March.
So the WINTER OPENING HOURS are as follows
Tuesday to Saturday  -  10am to 5.30pm

Highlights of a Sunny August

It's been a bright and busy August with lots of visitors to Saltaire, which glows in the sun with all these golden Yorkshire stone buildings.  Lots of new arrivals at ArtParade too, here's a photo update.

Some lovely new pieces from Xuella Arnold

To add to other pieces from her collection already here

Xuella at work in her studio
"My designs are inspired by song lyrics and poetry, which creates narrative and wearable imagery."  Xuella creates silver, bronze and gold jewellery designed and individually crafted with the individual in mind, someone who is looking for unusual, but personal pieces of jewellery.
New to ArtParade this month is print artist Hester Cox, whose work has become an instant hit.
The Raspberry Thief

The Silent Sentinel

The Watcher
Hester Cox is a full-time printmaker specialising in collagraphs but interested in all aspects of printmaking. "The excitement of peeling off the first proof has never diminished!".  Hester’s inspiration is most often derived from the natural landscape, the plants and wildlife that inhabit it and the stories, myths and symbolism associated with them.
Rowena Park has been a favourite with ArtParade customers for some time, her delivery this month included two new designs which perfectly match this summer's sunny mood.

New designs also this month from Bill and Jacquie McNeill of McNeill Glass, entitled Landscape and Sunburst.  These creative kiln fused glass designs use elaborate glass cutting and hand building skills.
Recently Jacquie and Bill renovated and extended an old barn near Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, this is now home to their new workshop and studio gallery, which is open to the public.

A Range of Coasters
Earlier this year, before this blog started, a new print artist began exhibiting at ArtParade.  Sarah Harris is very local and loves creating images of Saltaire and the surrounding area.  We had a new delivery from Sarah this month which included several new images, including some of Haworth and of Skipton, to add to the already popular images of Saltaire.

Shipley Glen Tramway
Sarah says "Through my work I aim to inspire exploration and evoke memories for the viewer. The pieces themselves consist of silk screen prints of original artwork depicting local scenes, which I hand print in limited runs. For inspiration for the imagery I draw on my experiences of growing up near Saltaire, taking day trips and walks around nearby areas."
Finally, an exciting find this summer is a brand new idea from the team at La De Da! Living, their beautiful  Hand Stamped Vintage Cutlery.
La de da! are based in the stunning Spa Town of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.  "From our humble 'one up one down' we source vintage, antique pieces of silver plated cutlery from all over the Uk. Amazingly we then hand stamp each and every letter onto the chosen piece creating 'a one of a kind' keepsake from a piece of our history."
